Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Swimming Teacher to join our vibrant team at Newquay Sports Centre. As a Swimming Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality swimming lessons to individuals of all ages and abilities, from beginners to advanced swimmers. You will create a safe, fun, and engaging learning environment, helping our members develop essential water safety skills and improve their swimming technique. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated professional to inspire a love of swimming within our community.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective swimming lessons in accordance with national teaching plans and Better's own programme.
- Assess student progress regularly and provide constructive feedback to learners and parents/guardians.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance and achievement for all participants.
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all participants at all times, adhering to health and safety guidelines and emergency procedures.
- Communicate effectively with learners, parents, and colleagues.
- Actively promote Better's swimming programmes and encourage participation.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
- Assist with the maintenance of a clean and safe pool environment.
Required Skills
- Swim England (formerly ASA) Level 2 Certificate for Teaching Swimming or equivalent recognized qualification.
- Current National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) or National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches (NRASTC).
- Current First Aid at Work Certificate.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven experience in teaching swimming to diverse age groups and abilities.
- A passion for swimming and water safety.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with coaching specific aquatic disciplines (e.g., Rookie Lifeguard, Aqua Fit).
- Experience working with individuals with special educational needs or disabilities (SEND).
- Additional teaching or coaching qualifications.
