Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and qualified Swimming Teacher to join our dynamic team at our Reigate leisure centre. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality swimming lessons to individuals and groups of all ages and abilities, ensuring a safe, fun, and engaging learning environment. This role is crucial in promoting water safety and helping our community develop essential life skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and effective swimming lessons in line with national curriculum standards and Better (GLL) guidelines.
  • Assess swimmers' abilities and progress, providing constructive feedback and adapting teaching methods as necessary.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants, adhering to all health and safety regulations and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and report any concerns or incidents to the Leisure Centre management.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding their child's progress.
  • Actively promote further swimming courses and activities.

Required Skills

  • STA Level 2 Award in Teaching Swimming or Swim England Level 2 Teaching Swimming qualification.
  • Current NPLQ (National Pool Lifeguard Qualification) or equivalent first aid certification relevant to a pool environment.
  • Demonstrable experience teaching swimming to diverse age groups.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional coaching qualifications (e.g., baby and pre-school, competitive swimming).
  • Experience working with individuals with special educational needs or disabilities.
  • Previous experience working in a leisure centre environment.
