Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and meticulous Surgical Instrument Sterilization Technician to join our essential back-office team at Prince Philip Hospital in Llanelli. This critical role ensures the safety of our patients by providing impeccably sterilized surgical instruments for all procedures. No prior experience in sterilization is required as full, comprehensive training will be provided to the successful candidate. Key Responsibilities

  • Decontaminate, clean, inspect, assemble, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment according to established protocols and standards.
  • Operate and maintain sterilization equipment such as autoclaves, ensuring proper functioning and record-keeping.
  • Perform quality checks on all sterilized items to ensure they meet stringent safety and sterility requirements.
  • Package and label instruments and sets accurately for storage and distribution to surgical theaters and other departments.
  • Maintain accurate logs and records of sterilization cycles, equipment maintenance, and instrument inventory.
  • Adhere strictly to infection control policies, health and safety regulations, and departmental procedures.
  • Collaborate effectively with surgical staff, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure timely delivery of sterile instruments.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with best practices in sterilization technology.
