Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and passionate Stable Hand to join our friendly team at Paddock Paradise Stables in Brighton. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who love horses and are eager to learn and contribute to a high-standard equestrian environment. As a Stable Hand, you will be crucial in maintaining the health, happiness, and cleanliness of our horses and facilities. Full training will be provided to the right candidate with a strong work ethic and a desire to excel in horse care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily mucking out of stables, ensuring a clean and hygienic environment for horses.
  • Provide fresh hay, water, and feed according to established dietary plans and schedules.
  • Groom horses regularly, including brushing, bathing, and mane/tail care.
  • Turn out and bring in horses from paddocks safely and efficiently.
  • Assist with general stable duties such as sweeping, tidying tack rooms, and equipment maintenance.
  • Monitor horses for any signs of injury, illness, or behavioral changes and report promptly to management.
  • Support farriers, veterinarians, and other equine professionals during their visits.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the stable yard, pathways, and surrounding areas.
  • Assist with lunging, exercising, and preparing horses for riding as needed.
  • Adhere to all health and safety guidelines and stable protocols.

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and bending.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in an equestrian environment (even voluntary or personal experience).
  • Basic understanding of horse behavior and care.
