Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and hands-on Solar Farm Technician to join our growing team in St Kilda, Victoria. This role is crucial for the ongoing operational efficiency and reliability of our solar farm assets. As a Solar Farm Technician, you will be responsible for the routine maintenance, inspection, and repair of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to safety standards. You will work within a supportive team environment, contributing directly to Australia’s renewable energy future.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and troubleshooting on solar PV arrays, inverters, and associated electrical equipment.
- Conduct preventative maintenance tasks to ensure the long-term reliability and efficiency of solar farm infrastructure.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical faults promptly and effectively.
- Monitor system performance using SCADA and other monitoring platforms, identifying and addressing anomalies.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) protocols.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inventory.
- Collaborate with site managers and engineering teams to optimize operational performance.
- Participate in emergency response procedures and fault finding on high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) systems (under supervision if required).
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and quality standards.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in an electrical or mechanical maintenance role, preferably within an industrial or renewable energy setting.
- Basic understanding of electrical circuits and solar PV system components.
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and schematics.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to all safety protocols.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Physical ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform manual tasks.
- Valid Australian driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant trade qualification (e.g., Electrician, Electrical Fitter, or similar).
- Experience with HV/LV switching operations and procedures.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Working at Heights certification.
- EWP (Elevated Work Platform) license.
