Job Description
Are you a highly motivated and physically fit individual looking for consistent work with the benefit of daily pay? GXO Logistics is seeking dedicated Shipping Container Unloaders (Lumpers) to join our busy distribution team in Bootle. This hands-on role involves manually unloading a variety of goods from shipping containers, ensuring items are sorted, stacked, and prepared for storage or onward distribution. No specific prior experience is required, as full training will be provided. We value reliability, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to safety. Key Responsibilities
- Manually unload goods, boxes, and packages from shipping containers
- Sort and stack products onto pallets or designated areas efficiently and safely
- Operate manual pallet jacks and other basic warehouse equipment as needed (training provided)
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations and company policies
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment within the container and warehouse areas
- Assist with other general warehouse duties as required by management
- Work collaboratively with team members to ensure container unloading targets are met
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform repetitive lifting, bending, and carrying of heavy items (up to 25kg)
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Keen attention to detail for sorting and stacking accuracy
- Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently when necessary
- No specific prior experience required; full training will be given
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or manual labor environment
- Familiarity with manual handling techniques and equipment
- Basic understanding of warehouse operations and safety procedures
