Job Description
Are you looking for an exciting entry-level opportunity to kickstart your career in heavy machinery operation? Recycle UK St Helens Ltd. is offering a unique Trainee Scrap Metal Crane Operator position. No prior experience is required! We are committed to providing comprehensive, paid training to ambitious individuals who are eager to learn and grow within the recycling industry. You will be an integral part of our yard team, learning to safely operate specialist cranes used for sorting and moving various types of scrap metal.
Key Responsibilities
- Actively participate in and complete all required training modules for safe crane operation.
- Assist experienced operators with the sorting, loading, and unloading of scrap metal materials.
- Learn to conduct pre-shift inspections and basic maintenance checks on crane equipment.
- Adhere strictly to all company health and safety policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with other yard staff to ensure smooth operational flow.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area.
Required Skills
- No prior experience operating heavy machinery is required.
- A strong willingness and aptitude to learn new skills.
- Excellent work ethic and reliability.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Good physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- A commitment to workplace safety.
- Valid UK driving license (preferred but not essential for initial application).
