Job Description
We are seeking a reliable and dedicated Public Sector Procurement Driver for light van delivery. In this role, you will be instrumental in facilitating the timely and secure transportation of goods and materials for our public sector clients within the Chicago metropolitan area. This is a critical position that supports essential government and community services, requiring a keen eye for detail, adherence to strict schedules, and a commitment to safety. You will operate light vans, executing daily routes, ensuring all deliveries and pickups are completed accurately and efficiently. Full training on specific client procedures and procurement protocols will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a light delivery van to transport goods and materials to various public sector client locations.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, ensuring vehicle is in optimal working condition.
- Load and unload delivery items, verifying accuracy against manifests and delivery schedules.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, records, and obtain necessary signatures upon delivery.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, company policies, and public sector specific delivery protocols.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, clients, and team members regarding delivery status or potential issues.
- Ensure the security and integrity of all items during transit.
- Represent Ryder and our public sector clients professionally at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift and move packages up to 50 lbs.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Punctual, reliable, and a strong commitment to safety.
- Familiarity with GPS devices and route optimization applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in delivery driving or logistics.
- Knowledge of Chicago-area roadways and traffic patterns.
- Experience working with public sector or government clients.
- High School Diploma or GED.
