Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and professional Public Health Clinic Receptionist to join our team in Dundee. This is a secure, full-time position offering a consistent work schedule with no weekend shifts. As the first point of contact for our patients and visitors, you will play a crucial role in creating a welcoming and efficient environment. You will manage appointments, handle inquiries, process patient registrations, and provide essential administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of our public health clinic. We are looking for an individual with excellent communication skills, a compassionate approach, and a commitment to public service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner
  • Manage patient appointments, including scheduling, rescheduling, and cancellations
  • Register new patients and update existing patient records accurately
  • Answer incoming calls, respond to inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate staff members
  • Process patient information, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulations
  • Maintain a tidy and organised reception area
  • Assist with general administrative tasks, such as filing, photocopying, and scanning documents
  • Handle incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries
  • Provide information to patients regarding clinic services and procedures
  • Liaise with clinical staff to ensure efficient patient flow

Required Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to data protection policies
  • Customer service experience, preferably in a public-facing role
  • A professional and empathetic demeanor
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in a healthcare or medical reception setting
  • Familiarity with medical terminology or patient management systems
  • Experience with NHS systems or similar public sector environments
  • Qualification in Business Administration or a related field
