Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and empathetic Public Health Clinic Receptionist to join our team in Westminster. This is a secure, full-time position offering a stable schedule with no weekend work, allowing for a healthy work-life balance. As the first point of contact for our patients, you will play a crucial role in ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience for everyone visiting our clinic. We are looking for an individual with excellent communication skills and a passion for public service. Full training will be provided to the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Register new patients and update existing patient information accurately.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and cancel patient appointments, managing clinic diaries effectively.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls, directing queries to the appropriate department or individual.
  • Handle general patient inquiries, providing information on clinic services and procedures.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times, adhering to GDPR and NHS guidelines.
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail and faxes.
  • Manage the waiting area, ensuring it remains tidy and welcoming.
  • Assist with general administrative tasks as required by clinic staff.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation with a helpful and patient demeanor.
  • Basic computer literacy and ability to learn new software quickly.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a reception or administrative role, ideally within a healthcare setting.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Experience with NHS patient management systems (e.g., SystmOne, EMIS Web).
  • An understanding of public health principles.
