Job Description
Marks & Spencer is seeking an experienced and strategic Procurement Director to lead our procurement function in Truro, Cornwall. This pivotal role involves overseeing all aspects of our supply chain and procurement activities, driving cost efficiencies, ensuring supplier quality, and fostering sustainable sourcing practices. The successful candidate will be instrumental in shaping our long-term procurement strategy, managing high-value contracts, and building strong relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers globally. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive procurement strategy aligned with M&S's business objectives.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing procurement team.
- Manage end-to-end sourcing processes, including vendor selection, negotiation, and contract management.
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities across various categories without compromising quality.
- Establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and ethical sourcing standards.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the procurement function.
- Monitor market trends and risks to inform procurement decisions.
- Oversee the performance management of key suppliers and contracts.
Required Skills
- Proven leadership experience in a senior procurement role (10+ years).
- Extensive knowledge of procurement best practices, supply chain management, and strategic sourcing.
- Exceptional negotiation and contract management skills.
- Strong analytical and financial acumen.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
- Proficiency with procurement software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP Ariba, Oracle).
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strategic thinking with a results-oriented approach.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) certification.
- Experience with global sourcing and international supply chains.
- Knowledge of sustainability practices in procurement.
