Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Policy Advisor to join our dynamic team in Edinburgh. In this role, you will be instrumental in monitoring, researching, and analysing policy developments across various sectors that impact our clients and our firm. You will provide expert advice, draft policy briefs, and support our leadership in strategic decision-making and engagement with key stakeholders. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to significant policy discussions and shape future strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyse political, legislative, and regulatory developments at local, national, and international levels.
- Conduct in-depth research on specific policy issues and their potential implications.
- Prepare comprehensive policy briefings, reports, and presentations for internal teams and clients.
- Provide expert advice and recommendations on policy matters to senior leadership.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including government officials, industry bodies, and advocacy groups.
- Support the development and implementation of public affairs strategies.
- Represent the firm at relevant conferences, seminars, and stakeholder meetings.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate policy insights into client solutions.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in policy analysis, public affairs, or government relations.
- Strong research, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, with a capacity to distil complex information clearly.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a collaborative team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Demonstrable understanding of the UK political landscape and policy-making processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Master's degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Economics, Law, or a related field.
- Experience working within a consultancy, government department, think tank, or a large corporate public affairs function.
- Familiarity with specific sectors such as financial services, energy, technology, or health.
- Project management experience.
