Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Piping Engineer to join our dynamic team in St Albans. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, analysis, and optimization of piping systems for various industrial projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications. This role involves working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver high-quality, safe, and efficient designs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and review piping design specifications, layouts, and isometric drawings.
  • Perform stress analysis on piping systems using industry-standard software (e.g., CAESAR II).
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and client specifications (e.g., ASME B31.3, API, PED).
  • Prepare material take-offs and support procurement activities.
  • Collaborate with process, mechanical, civil, and structural engineers to ensure integrated design solutions.
  • Conduct technical reviews, support project meetings, and provide engineering input during all project phases.
  • Identify and resolve technical challenges related to piping design and installation.
  • Prepare and manage documentation, including technical reports and design calculations.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in piping design and engineering, preferably in oil & gas, petrochemical, or power industries.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., AutoDesk Plant 3D, SmartPlant 3D, PDMS).
  • Experience with piping stress analysis software (e.g., CAESAR II).
  • Strong understanding of international piping codes and standards (e.g., ASME B31.1, B31.3, B31.4, B31.8).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
  • Experience with brownfield projects and plant modifications.
  • Familiarity with various piping materials and their applications.
  • Project experience in the UK or European market.
