Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our Pediatric team in St. John’s, NL. This is an exciting opportunity to work with children and their families, providing essential services that enhance development, participation, and independence. We welcome applications from qualified Occupational Therapists globally and are prepared to support successful international candidates through the licensing and relocation process to practice in Canada.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments for children with diverse developmental needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized intervention plans to address sensory processing, fine motor skills, self-care, play, and school-related challenges.
  • Provide direct therapy services, individually and in groups, utilizing evidence-based practices.
  • Educate and empower parents, caregivers, and educators on therapeutic strategies and home programs.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, including physiotherapists, speech-language pathologists, and physicians, to ensure holistic care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely client records and progress reports.
  • Participate in program development, quality improvement initiatives, and professional development activities.

Required Skills

  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Eligibility for registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Occupational Therapists (NLCOT) or willingness to pursue registration upon hire.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in pediatric occupational therapy.
  • Strong clinical reasoning, assessment, and intervention skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Commitment to client-centered care and family engagement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of experience working in a pediatric setting.
  • Experience with diverse pediatric populations, including neurodevelopmental disorders, physical disabilities, and sensory processing differences.
  • Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the local community.
  • Familiarity with the Canadian healthcare system (for international applicants).
