Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented NatHERS Assessor to join our growing team in Hervey Bay. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for conducting accurate NatHERS (Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme) assessments, ensuring residential buildings comply with Australian building codes and energy efficiency requirements. You will work with architectural plans, apply your knowledge of building science, and utilize specialized software to provide essential energy ratings that contribute to sustainable development across Queensland.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting NatHERS assessments for new residential constructions and renovations using accredited software (e.g., BERS Pro, FirstRate5).
- Interpreting architectural plans, specifications, and construction details to accurately model building designs.
- Identifying opportunities for energy efficiency improvements and providing recommendations to clients.
- Preparing detailed assessment reports and certificates in accordance with NatHERS scheme requirements.
- Liaising with clients, architects, builders, and regulatory bodies to ensure clear communication and compliance.
- Staying updated with changes in relevant building codes, standards, and NatHERS methodology.
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation for all projects.
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of our assessment processes and services.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in interpreting architectural plans, elevations, and sections.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- Competency in using computer software, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated understanding of building construction principles and materials.
- Commitment to accuracy and adherence to compliance standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Accreditation as a NatHERS Assessor through an approved Assessor Accrediting Organization (e.g., ABSA, Design Matters National).
- Relevant tertiary qualification in building design, architecture, engineering, environmental science, or a related field.
- Experience with NatHERS accredited software such as BERS Pro, FirstRate5, or AccuRate.
- Knowledge of the National Construction Code (NCC) and Australian building regulations.
- Previous experience in a building compliance, energy efficiency, or architectural role.
