Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Part-Time Community Transport Driver to join our dedicated team in Tuggeranong. In this vital role, you will be responsible for providing safe and friendly transportation for local seniors to various appointments, social activities, and community events. Your work will directly contribute to their independence and social well-being, helping them stay connected and active within the Tuggeranong community.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate community vehicles to transport seniors according to scheduled routes and individual bookings.
- Assist passengers with boarding and alighting the vehicle, including those with mobility aids, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Maintain accurate passenger logs, trip records, and vehicle mileage.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any maintenance needs promptly.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and Canberra Community Care safety policies and procedures.
- Provide a friendly, supportive, and respectful service to all passengers.
- Communicate effectively with passengers, their families, and our support staff.
- Ensure vehicles are kept clean and tidy.
Required Skills
- Valid Australian Class C Driver's Licence (or equivalent) with a clean driving record.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to assist seniors.
- Ability to follow schedules and directions accurately.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong sense of responsibility.
- Ability to assist passengers with varying mobility needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a community transport, care, or customer service role.
- Current Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) Check or willingness to obtain one.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Good knowledge of the Tuggeranong and wider Canberra area.
