Job Description
Join the Royal Mail team as a Loading Dock Assistant for our Livingston distribution centre. This is a vital role ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our loading and unloading processes, critical for timely mail and parcel delivery. We are looking for reliable and energetic individuals who thrive in a fast-paced, physical environment. Your shift will begin in the early morning, allowing you to finish your workday by noon, leaving your afternoons free. Full training will be provided, so prior experience is not essential, but a strong work ethic and a commitment to safety are a must.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the loading and unloading of mail and parcels from delivery vehicles.
- Sort and organize packages on the loading dock according to destination or type.
- Operate pallet jacks and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently (training provided).
- Verify incoming and outgoing shipments against manifests or invoices.
- Maintain a clean and organized loading dock area, ensuring safety standards are met.
- Report any damaged goods or discrepancies immediately.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth operations.
- Adhere to all company safety protocols and procedures.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Reliable and punctual, with a commitment to early morning shifts.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse or logistics environment is a plus, but not required.
- Forklift or pallet jack certification (training can be provided if not held).
