Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and physically capable Ice Sculpting Assistant to join our dynamic events team. This is an entry-level position perfect for someone with a strong work ethic, physical aptitude, and an interest in art and events. You will work closely with our lead sculptor, assisting in all stages of ice sculpture creation and display, from handling large ice blocks to precise finishing touches. The role requires working in a cold environment and involves creative heavy lifting. Full training will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity to learn a unique craft and contribute to unforgettable event experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the lead sculptor with the safe handling, transport, and positioning of large ice blocks.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, particularly in cold storage areas.
- Prepare and clean sculpting tools and equipment, ensuring they are ready for use.
- Support the setup, placement, and dismantling of ice sculptures at various event locations within the venue.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and guidelines for working with ice and tools in cold conditions.
- Learn and apply basic ice sculpting techniques under the direct supervision of the lead artist.
- Assist with logistical aspects of event setup as needed, contributing to overall event success.
Required Skills
- Physical stamina and strength, with the ability to safely lift and maneuver heavy objects (up to 75 lbs).
- Comfort and ability to work effectively in cold environments for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to tasks.
- Reliable, punctual, and possessing a strong work ethic.
- Excellent ability to follow verbal and written instructions precisely.
- Basic understanding of safety procedures and willingness to learn specialized tool handling.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in event setup, general labor, warehouse work, or physically demanding roles.
- An interest or background in visual arts, design, or culinary arts.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to and from the venue.
