Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and reliable Entry-Level Hydroelectric Plant Maintenance Assistant to join our team in Anchorage. This is a secure, full-time position ideal for individuals with a strong work ethic, a desire to learn, and a commitment to safety. No prior experience in hydroelectric power is required; full training will be provided on-site by experienced professionals. You will assist with the routine maintenance, inspection, and repair of hydroelectric plant equipment and facilities, contributing to the consistent and safe operation of our vital power generation assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior maintenance technicians and engineers with preventative and corrective maintenance tasks on hydroelectric power generation equipment.
- Learn and apply safe work practices, policies, and procedures related to plant operations and maintenance.
- Perform general housekeeping duties to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment within the plant.
- Support the inspection of plant machinery, structures, and systems, reporting any unusual conditions or potential issues.
- Help with the movement and setup of tools, equipment, and materials required for maintenance projects.
- Participate in basic equipment repairs, lubrication, and adjustments under supervision.
- Document completed tasks and observations accurately as required.
- Attend all mandatory safety and technical training sessions.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Alaska Driver's License and a clean driving record
- Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn complex systems
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and work effectively in a team environment
- Commitment to safety and adherence to all safety protocols
- Basic computer proficiency for documentation and communication
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders, and working in various weather conditions
Preferred Qualifications
- Vocational training or coursework in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tools
- Prior experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or outdoor work environment
