Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Public Policy Assistant to join our Human Rights Support team. This entry-level role is perfect for an individual passionate about human rights and public policy, looking to contribute to meaningful work within a leading professional services firm. You will provide essential administrative and research support to our policy advisors, assisting in the development, analysis, and communication of policy initiatives related to human rights. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in the public policy landscape in Australia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on human rights issues, policy frameworks, and legislative developments.
  • Assist in the preparation of policy briefs, reports, presentations, and other communication materials.
  • Support the coordination of meetings, workshops, and stakeholder consultations.
  • Monitor news and policy updates relevant to human rights and public policy.
  • Organize and maintain policy-related documentation and databases.
  • Perform general administrative tasks to support the Public Policy team.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure policy recommendations are well-informed and comprehensive.

Required Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong research and analytical abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Political Science, International Relations, Law, Sociology, Public Policy, or a related field.

  • Familiarity with Australian political system and policy-making processes.
