Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic GIS Intern to join our Spatial Data Management team. This placement offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in geographical information systems (GIS) within a government environment. You will work on real-world projects, assisting with the creation, maintenance, and analysis of spatial datasets that inform critical planning and environmental decisions across the Australian Capital Territory. Full training will be provided, making this an ideal role for individuals looking to start their career in GIS.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the collection, digitization, and processing of various spatial data.
- Perform data quality control and assurance on existing and newly acquired GIS datasets.
- Support GIS analysts and planners in creating maps and spatial visualizations for reports and presentations.
- Contribute to the maintenance and update of the Directorate's spatial databases.
- Learn and apply GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS Pro, QGIS) for spatial analysis tasks.
- Document GIS processes and methodologies to ensure data integrity and consistency.
Required Skills
