Job Description
Join Spotless Group as a General Hand, providing essential support to schools and universities in the Gladstone region. This role is crucial in maintaining a safe, clean, and functional environment for students, staff, and visitors. You will assist with a variety of tasks, ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of educational facilities. We are looking for a reliable, proactive, and team-oriented individual who is eager to contribute to a positive learning atmosphere. Full training will be provided for all tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform minor maintenance tasks, including repairs to furniture, fixtures, and fittings.
- Assist with setting up and packing down for events, conferences, and daily classroom needs.
- Undertake general cleaning duties, ensuring common areas, classrooms, and offices are tidy.
- Support groundskeeping activities such as light gardening, litter removal, and maintaining outdoor areas.
- Handle internal deliveries, moving equipment, and relocating furniture as required.
- Report any maintenance issues, hazards, or safety concerns promptly to supervisors.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
- Provide general assistance to staff and students as directed, maintaining a helpful and friendly demeanor.
Required Skills
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of safety procedures and willingness to learn new skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic.
- Physical fitness to perform duties including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Valid Australian driver's license (desirable, but not strictly required for entry level).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a similar general hand or facilities support role (even casual/volunteer).
- Current First Aid certificate.
- Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain one).
