Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Gastroenterology Doctor to join our dynamic team within the Fraser Health Authority, based in Burnaby, British Columbia. This is an excellent opportunity for a specialist looking to make a significant impact on patient care in a thriving community. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing a wide range of gastrointestinal and hepatological conditions. This role involves both outpatient clinic duties and inpatient consultations, performing advanced endoscopic procedures, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive patient management. Full relocation and visa support will be provided for qualified international candidates.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive medical care for patients with gastrointestinal and liver diseases.
- Conduct thorough patient examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and formulate treatment plans.
- Perform advanced endoscopic procedures including gastroscopy, colonoscopy, ERCP, and EUS.
- Manage both acute and chronic conditions, focusing on evidence-based medicine.
- Collaborate effectively with primary care physicians, surgeons, radiologists, and other specialists.
- Participate in on-call rotations and emergency consultations as required.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records in compliance with professional and organizational standards.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and clinical research within the department.
Required Skills
- Medical Degree (MD) from an accredited institution.
- Current valid license to practice medicine in Canada (or eligibility for licensure in British Columbia).
- Specialty certification in Gastroenterology from a recognized Canadian or international board (e.g., FRCPC or equivalent).
- Proficiency in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures.
- Strong clinical acumen and diagnostic skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to patient-centered care and continuous professional development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Fellowship training in advanced endoscopy or a sub-specialty related to gastroenterology.
- Experience working within a large health authority or academic medical center.
- Demonstrated interest in teaching or research.
- Additional language proficiency relevant to the diverse population served by Fraser Health.
