Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Fire Alarm Technician to join our team in Philadelphia, PA, focusing on ongoing service work. In this role, you will be responsible for the inspection, testing, repair, and maintenance of various fire alarm systems in commercial, industrial, and institutional environments. This position requires a strong understanding of fire alarm codes, excellent troubleshooting abilities, and a commitment to ensuring the highest standards of safety and compliance. You will work independently and as part of a team, interacting directly with clients to provide exceptional service and support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire alarm systems in accordance with NFPA standards and local codes.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot system malfunctions, identify root causes, and implement effective repair solutions.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance to ensure optimal system performance and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Program and configure fire alarm control panels and associated devices.
  • Prepare accurate and detailed reports on service activities, including deficiencies found and corrective actions taken.
  • Provide training and technical support to clients on fire alarm system operation.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for emergency service requests.
  • Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with company policies and industry regulations.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in fire alarm system service, inspection, and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting fire alarm system issues.
  • Strong knowledge of NFPA 72 and local fire codes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NICET Level II or higher certification in Fire Alarm Systems.
  • Experience with various fire alarm manufacturers (e.g., Simplex, Notifier, EST, Siemens).
  • Associates degree or vocational training in electronics or a related field.
  • Experience with CCTV, access control, or other security systems is a plus.
