Job Description
Riverstone Pictures Inc. is seeking dedicated and physically capable individuals to join our dynamic film crew as a Film Set Cable Dragger. This is an essential entry-level role within the lighting department, crucial for ensuring the smooth and safe operation of our productions. We are looking for individuals who are ready for hard work, long hours, and an immersive experience in the world of filmmaking. As a Cable Dragger, you will work closely with our Gaffer and Best Boy Electric, providing vital support in managing the vast network of cables and electrical equipment on set. This role requires significant physical stamina, a strong commitment to safety, and a proactive attitude. While previous experience on a film set is a plus, it is not required; we are prepared to train motivated individuals who are eager to learn and contribute to a fast-paced production environment. This is a contract position based on project needs, offering an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience and build a foundation for a career in film production. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently lay out, manage, and coil electrical cables and power distribution equipment on set.
- Assist the lighting crew (Gaffer, Best Boy Electric, Electricians) with the setup, operation, and strike of lighting fixtures and associated gear.
- Ensure all cables are taped down, organized, and clear of traffic paths to maintain a safe working environment.
- Transport and move heavy lighting equipment, stands, and other gear as directed.
- Monitor cable integrity and report any issues or damage to the appropriate personnel.
- Assist with general set duties and maintain cleanliness in designated work areas.
- Adhere strictly to all set safety protocols and procedures.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and positive attitude during long and demanding workdays.
Required Skills
- Excellent physical stamina and strength, capable of lifting and carrying heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs) repeatedly throughout the day.
- Ability to stand, walk, and work for extended periods, often in challenging weather conditions or environments.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality.
- Keen attention to detail and a proactive approach to safety.
- Ability to follow instructions precisely and work effectively as part of a team.
- Adaptability and a willingness to work long, irregular, and demanding hours.
- Positive attitude and a strong desire to learn the craft of film production.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (even volunteer or uncredited) on a film set or in a similar physically demanding role.
- Basic understanding of electrical safety principles.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced setting.
