Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and scientifically minded Entomologist / Pest Control Scientist to join our expert team in Coventry. This role is pivotal in advancing our understanding of pest biology and developing cutting-edge pest management strategies. You will be instrumental in identifying pest species, researching their behavior, and contributing to the design and implementation of integrated pest management (IPM) programs. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough pest identification and analysis for various insect and rodent species.
- Perform research into pest biology, behavior, and population dynamics to inform control strategies.
- Develop and refine Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs, ensuring efficacy and compliance with environmental standards.
- Provide expert entomological advice and support to field technicians, sales teams, and clients.
- Monitor the effectiveness of pest control treatments and recommend adjustments as necessary.
- Prepare detailed reports and documentation on findings, methodologies, and outcomes.
- Stay abreast of the latest scientific advancements in entomology and pest control technologies.
- Contribute to the development of training materials and professional development programs for internal staff.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Entomology, Biology, Zoology, or a closely related scientific field.
- Strong foundational knowledge of insect identification, biology, and ecology.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities, with an aptitude for scientific research.
- Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and client interaction.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Full UK driving license or equivalent (for potential site visits and fieldwork).
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in Entomology or a relevant biological science.
- Previous practical experience in a pest control, agricultural, or environmental science setting.
- Experience with advanced laboratory techniques for insect study.
- Knowledge of relevant UK and EU pest control regulations and health & safety standards.
- Familiarity with data analysis software and statistical methods.
