Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Employment Lawyer to join our esteemed team in Edinburgh. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in advising a diverse client base on all aspects of employment law, from day-to-day HR queries to complex litigation and strategic advisory work. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert legal advice to clients on a broad spectrum of employment law matters, including unfair dismissal, discrimination, redundancy, TUPE, and contractual disputes.
  • Draft and review employment contracts, policies, and settlement agreements.
  • Represent clients in employment tribunals and other dispute resolution forums.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support client advice and internal knowledge sharing.
  • Manage a caseload efficiently, ensuring timely and effective client service.
  • Support business development initiatives and contribute to client seminars and publications.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across different departments to offer integrated legal solutions.

Required Skills

  • Qualified Solicitor with a valid practicing certificate in Scotland (or eligible for one).
  • Proven experience (minimum 3 years PQE) specializing in employment law, gained within a reputable law firm.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and case law.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and client management skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • High level of professional integrity and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience advising public sector or large corporate clients.
  • Familiarity with cross-border employment issues.
  • Advocacy experience in employment tribunals.
  • Post-graduate qualification in employment law or a related field.
