Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer with specialized experience in High Voltage (HV) systems to join our dynamic team in Liverpool. This pivotal role involves the design, analysis, and implementation of complex HV electrical infrastructure projects, ensuring safety, reliability, and efficiency. You will play a crucial part in various stages of project lifecycles, from conceptual design through to commissioning, working with cutting-edge technology and contributing to the future of energy. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop high voltage electrical systems and components, including substations, transmission lines, and power distribution networks.
  • Conduct detailed electrical analysis, calculations, and simulations for HV systems, including load flow, short circuit, and protection coordination studies.
  • Prepare technical specifications, single line diagrams, schematics, and equipment layouts in accordance with international standards and client requirements.
  • Participate in site surveys, inspections, and commissioning activities for HV installations.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, project managers, and clients to ensure project success.
  • Provide technical support and expertise during project execution, identifying and resolving engineering issues.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and environmental policies in all HV designs and operations.
  • Stay abreast of new technologies, industry trends, and regulatory changes in high voltage engineering.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in the design, analysis, and implementation of High Voltage (HV) systems (11kV and above).
  • Proficiency with electrical engineering software such as ETAP, PSCAD, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of power system principles, protection schemes, and grid codes.
  • Knowledge of relevant international electrical standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE, BS).
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in Power Systems Engineering.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards it.
  • Experience with renewable energy integration projects (e.g., wind farms, solar PV).
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools.
  • Experience with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN).
