Job Description
We are seeking enthusiastic and reliable individuals to join our team as a Casual Boat Yard Hand. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone looking to gain experience in the marine industry. You will assist with a variety of tasks crucial to the smooth operation of our boat yard, ensuring vessels and equipment are well-maintained and our facilities are kept in excellent condition. Full training will be provided for all tasks, focusing on safe work practices and the development of valuable marine skills. Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the movement and positioning of boats, both on land and in water, under supervision.
- Perform general cleaning and maintenance of the boat yard facilities, including tidying work areas and disposing of waste.
- Wash, clean, and detail vessels as required, preparing them for service or delivery.
- Support skilled tradespeople with various tasks, such as minor repairs, antifouling, and painting prep.
- Operate basic power tools and equipment safely after receiving appropriate training.
- Assist with inventory management, including receiving and organising parts and supplies.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and company policies.
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment at all times.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- A strong work ethic and a proactive attitude towards learning new skills.
- Reliability and punctuality are essential.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively as part of a team.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Basic understanding of workplace safety is an advantage, but not required.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a physical labour role or outdoor work environment.
- Current driver's license (manual preferred).
- Knowledge or interest in marine vessels and the maritime industry.
