Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Analytical Chemist to join our dynamic team in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. This role is crucial for performing a variety of chemical analyses on diverse samples using state-of-the-art instrumentation. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, precision, and timely delivery of analytical results, contributing significantly to our scientific integrity and client satisfaction. Key Responsibilities
- Conducting routine and non-routine chemical analyses on a wide range of samples using techniques such as HPLC, GC, GC-MS, ICP-MS, UV-Vis, and FTIR.
- Developing, validating, and optimizing analytical methods in accordance with regulatory guidelines (e.g., ISO 17025, GMP/GLP).
- Operating, calibrating, and performing routine maintenance on analytical instrumentation.
- Interpreting data, preparing comprehensive reports, and presenting findings to internal and external stakeholders.
- Troubleshooting analytical issues and implementing corrective actions.
- Ensuring strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations and quality control procedures.
- Maintaining accurate and detailed laboratory records and documentation.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting analytical instrumentation (e.g., HPLC, GC, MS techniques).
- Strong understanding of analytical chemistry principles and laboratory best practices.
- Excellent data interpretation, report writing, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a closely related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
- Experience with method development and validation.
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory guidelines (e.g., ISO 17025, GMP, GLP).
- Previous experience in a contract testing laboratory environment.
