Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Millwright / Industrial Mechanic to join our dynamic team in Leatherhead, Surrey. This is an exceptional opportunity for experienced professionals, including international candidates, looking to contribute their expertise in a fast-paced logistics environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of industrial machinery and mechanical equipment, ensuring optimal operational efficiency and safety across our facility. Your role is critical in supporting our commitment to seamless logistics and distribution.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on all mechanical equipment and machinery, including conveyors, automated sorting systems, and packaging lines.
- Install, align, dismantle, and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, and other drawings.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and detailed repair specifications to perform maintenance and installation duties.
- Fabricate parts using various tools and machinery (lathes, grinders, welding equipment) as required for repairs or system upgrades.
- Conduct regular safety checks and maintain a safe working environment, adhering to all company safety protocols and industry standards.
- Collaborate with other maintenance team members and operational staff to minimize downtime and optimize equipment performance.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and training programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Millwright or Industrial Mechanic in a manufacturing or logistics setting (minimum 3 years).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Experience with welding, fabrication, and precision measurement tools.
- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to safety regulations.
- Valid trade qualification or equivalent certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with automated material handling systems.
- Familiarity with PLC controlled equipment.
- Forklift operator certification.
- HGV or LGV licence (advantageous for internal movement of parts).
- Certification in specific industrial machinery (e.g., conveyor systems, robotics).
