Job Description
As an Aircraft Tech (Avionics) with BAE Systems Australia, you will be an integral part of our dedicated team responsible for ensuring the operational readiness and safety of critical aviation assets. This role involves performing highly skilled maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on complex avionics systems, including navigation, communication, radar, and flight control systems. Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive inspections, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of aircraft avionics systems and components.
- Diagnose complex electronic and electrical faults using specialized test equipment and technical manuals.
- Conduct functional tests and operational checks on repaired or installed avionics systems to ensure compliance with operational standards.
- Interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics accurately.
- Maintain accurate and detailed maintenance records, logbooks, and reports in accordance with regulatory and company procedures.
- Ensure all work is performed in strict adherence to safety regulations, quality standards, and airworthiness requirements.
- Collaborate effectively with engineering teams, flight crews, and other maintenance personnel.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and training programs to stay current with evolving avionics technologies.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians as required.
Required Skills
- Aviation Maintenance Engineer (AME) License with Avionics endorsement (or equivalent recognized qualification).
- Demonstrated experience with aircraft avionics systems, including troubleshooting, repair, and testing.
- Proficiency in interpreting complex technical documentation, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills in electronic and electrical systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Sound knowledge of aviation safety regulations and airworthiness standards.
- Basic computer literacy for documentation and system interface.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with specific military or commercial aircraft platforms relevant to BAE Systems operations.
- Further certifications in advanced avionics systems or specialized diagnostic tools.
- Current or ability to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance.
- Trade qualification in Aircraft Maintenance (Avionics) or equivalent.
