Job Description

California Water Service Company is seeking enthusiastic individuals for an Entry Level Water Conservation Surveyor position. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with little to no prior experience, as we provide comprehensive training. You will be a crucial part of our mission to promote responsible water use, working outdoors in the community to identify potential water waste and educate customers on conservation practices. This role requires a commitment to fieldwork, excellent communication skills, and a desire to learn about water utility operations and conservation strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field surveys to identify leaks, inefficient irrigation, and water waste in residential and commercial properties.
- Utilize handheld devices and software for data collection and reporting during field assessments.
- Engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner to provide information on water conservation programs, tips, and available rebates.
- Distribute educational materials on water efficiency and explain conservation policies.
- Document findings accurately and prepare clear, concise reports on survey results.
- Collaborate with other team members and departments to address water waste issues and support conservation initiatives.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company guidelines while performing fieldwork.
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs related to water conservation and utility services.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid California Driver's License and a clean driving record.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in various outdoor conditions.
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer proficiency for data entry and mobile application usage.
- Physical ability to walk, stand, and navigate diverse terrains for extended periods.
- A genuine interest in environmental sustainability and water conservation.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and conservation practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Some experience in customer service or community outreach.
- Familiarity with the Salinas local area.
- Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish).
