Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Nuclear Safety Administrator to join our specialized science sector team in Ballarat. This pivotal role supports our nuclear safety and compliance frameworks, ensuring all administrative processes run smoothly and efficiently. The ideal candidate will be proactive, possess excellent communication skills, and thrive in a rigorous scientific environment where precision and adherence to protocols are paramount. This role requires a commitment to upholding the highest safety standards and contributing to a secure operational environment within our research facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain comprehensive documentation related to nuclear safety protocols, regulations, and incident reports.
  • Coordinate and schedule safety training sessions, audits, and inspections, ensuring all personnel are compliant.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of regulatory reports to relevant national and international bodies.
  • Serve as the primary administrative support for the Nuclear Safety Officer and related scientific teams.
  • Maintain confidential records and databases with utmost discretion and accuracy.
  • Facilitate internal and external communications regarding safety updates, procedures, and emergencies.
  • Organize meetings, prepare agendas, and record minutes for safety committee discussions.

Required Skills

  • Proven administrative experience of at least two years in a highly regulated or technical environment (e.g., science, engineering, healthcare).
  • Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for clear and concise reporting.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a specialized team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a scientific research, nuclear, or environmental safety setting.
  • Understanding of compliance and regulatory frameworks pertinent to scientific or technical industries.
  • Tertiary qualification in administration, science, or a related technical field.
