Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Recycling Education Officer to join our dynamic Waste and Resource Recovery team. This pivotal role involves actively engaging with the Dubbo community to promote best practices in recycling, waste reduction, and resource recovery. You will develop and deliver educational programs, workshops, and outreach activities tailored for diverse audiences, from schools to community groups and residents, aiming to increase awareness and participation in our recycling initiatives. This is an exciting opportunity to make a tangible difference in environmental sustainability within our region.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, coordinate, and deliver engaging educational programs and workshops on recycling, waste reduction, and resource recovery for various community groups, including schools, businesses, and residents.
- Represent Dubbo Regional Council at community events, markets, and festivals to promote recycling initiatives and engage with the public.
- Create and distribute informative educational materials, including brochures, presentations, social media content, and website updates.
- Provide expert advice and support to residents and businesses on proper waste separation and recycling techniques.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs, providing regular reports and recommendations for improvement.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to enhance waste management strategies and foster community participation.
- Stay informed on current trends, policies, and technologies in waste management and recycling to ensure educational content is up-to-date and relevant.
Required Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
- Proven ability to deliver engaging presentations and facilitate workshops for diverse audiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a knack for building rapport and engaging with community members.
- Basic understanding of waste management principles, recycling processes, and environmental sustainability.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Environmental Science, Education, Communications, or a related field.
- Previous experience in community engagement, education, or outreach, particularly in an environmental or waste management context.
- Experience in developing educational resources and campaigns.
- Valid Australian Class C Driver's License.
