Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and organised Admissions Coordinator to join our team at Dubbo Private Hospital. This vital role is the first point of contact for many of our patients, ensuring a smooth and empathetic admission process. The Admissions Coordinator is responsible for managing patient admissions, scheduling, and maintaining accurate patient records, all while upholding the highest standards of confidentiality and customer service. You will work closely with medical, nursing, and administrative staff to facilitate a seamless experience for patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of patient admissions, including pre-admission, admission, and discharge processes.
- Accurately collect and verify patient demographic, medical, and insurance information.
- Liaise with doctors, nursing staff, and other departments to coordinate admission times and bed allocation.
- Provide patients and their families with clear information regarding hospital policies, procedures, and financial arrangements.
- Process necessary paperwork and maintain meticulous patient records in the hospital's administration system.
- Handle patient inquiries with professionalism and empathy, resolving issues or escalating as required.
- Ensure strict adherence to patient confidentiality and privacy regulations.
- Assist with general administrative tasks as needed to support the admissions department.
Required Skills
- Minimum 1 year of administrative experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-first approach.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in using computer systems, including Microsoft Office Suite and patient management software.
- Ability to multitask and work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated empathy, discretion, and a commitment to patient confidentiality.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Certificate III/IV in Business Administration, Medical Administration, or a related field.
- Familiarity with medical terminology.
- Previous experience in a hospital or private healthcare environment.
