Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and aspiring Junior Animator to join our creative team in Southampton. This is an exciting entry-level opportunity for individuals looking to kickstart their career in animation within the dynamic video game industry. As a Junior Animator, you will work closely with senior animators and other development teams to bring characters and environments to life, contributing to engaging and visually stunning game experiences. You will receive comprehensive training and mentorship, learning industry-standard tools and pipelines, and developing your animation skills from the ground up. Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior animators with the creation of in-game animations, including character movements, environmental effects, and cinematics.
- Learn and apply animation principles such as timing, spacing, weight, and appeal under guidance.
- Utilize animation software (e.g., Maya, Blender) to create and refine animation cycles.
- Implement animations into game engines (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity) and ensure they meet technical specifications.
- Participate in daily stand-ups and team meetings, contributing ideas and feedback.
- Receive and act upon constructive feedback to improve animation quality and workflow.
- Maintain organized file structures and adhere to established animation pipelines.
- Collaborate effectively with other departments, including character artists, designers, and programmers.
Required Skills
- Basic understanding of animation principles and theories.
- Familiarity with 3D animation software (e.g., Autodesk Maya, Blender, 3ds Max).
- A strong desire to learn and develop animation skills.
- Ability to take direction and constructive criticism.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Enthusiasm for video games and interactive entertainment.
Preferred Qualifications
- A portfolio showcasing personal animation projects, student work, or demo reels (even if entry-level).
