Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Computer Science Teacher to join our dedicated team at Truro Academy. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and challenging Computer Science lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and potentially 5. This role offers an exciting opportunity to inspire the next generation of digital innovators, fostering a deep understanding of computational thinking, programming, and digital literacy. You will play a crucial role in shaping our Computer Science curriculum and contributing to a thriving department.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality Computer Science lessons to students across various age groups, ensuring curriculum objectives are met.
- Assess, monitor, and report on student progress, providing constructive feedback to support their learning and development.
- Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies to engage students and foster a passion for Computer Science.
- Contribute to the continuous development and review of the Computer Science curriculum.
- Participate in departmental meetings, school events, and extracurricular activities related to Computer Science.
- Maintain a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and contribute to the wider school community.
Required Skills
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or a related field, with a strong subject knowledge.
- Demonstrable experience teaching Computer Science at secondary school level (including NQT year).
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C#.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students of all abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Computer Science or Education.
- Experience teaching A-Level Computer Science.
- Familiarity with various educational technologies and platforms.
- Experience with robotics, game design, or web development.
- Active participation in professional development relevant to Computer Science education.
