Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Crane Mechanic to join our dynamic team in Footscray, Victoria. As a Crane Mechanic, you will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of a wide range of mobile and fixed cranes, lifting equipment, and heavy machinery. This role requires a strong understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to safety. You will play a vital role in ensuring our fleet operates efficiently and reliably, supporting critical projects across various industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, servicing, and diagnostic checks on cranes and heavy lifting equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical faults.
- Conduct repairs and replacements of components, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and control systems.
- Execute preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and ensure equipment longevity.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, company policies, and relevant industry regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities.
- Collaborate with the operations team to schedule maintenance and prioritize repairs.
- Provide technical advice and support to crane operators as needed.
- Participate in on-call rotations for emergency repairs outside of regular hours, if required.
Required Skills
- Trade qualification as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a Crane Mechanic or heavy equipment mechanic, specifically with cranes.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills across mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Excellent understanding of workplace health and safety practices.
- Valid Australian driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- High Risk Work Licence (e.g., Dogging, Rigging, or Crane Operation).
- Experience with specific crane brands (e.g., Liebherr, Tadano, Grove, Kato).
- Post-trade qualifications or specialized training in crane mechanics.
- Familiarity with telematics and advanced diagnostic software for heavy machinery.
