Job Description
We are offering an unparalleled internship opportunity for aspiring legal professionals interested in the prosecutorial and law enforcement aspects of local government. This internship provides a unique insight into the legal processes involved in enforcing local regulations, investigating breaches, and preparing cases for prosecution. You will work closely with experienced legal professionals, gaining practical exposure to the foundational elements of public sector law, evidence gathering, and judicial procedures. This is an entry-level position designed for learning, with full training and mentorship provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with legal research and analysis on relevant statutes, regulations, and case law.
- Supporting the preparation of legal documents, including briefs, reports, and correspondence.
- Attending court hearings, tribunals, and client meetings to observe legal proceedings.
- Organising and managing case files, evidence, and other critical legal documentation.
- Liaising with internal departments, external agencies, and legal counsel as directed.
- Contributing to projects aimed at improving legal processes and regulatory compliance.
- Shadowing legal officers and solicitors in their day-to-day duties.
Required Skills
- Strong academic interest in law, criminology, or public policy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional organisational abilities and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Law degree (LLB), Legal Practice Course (LPC), Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL), or similar legal qualification program.
- Previous experience (academic or volunteer) in research, advocacy, or administrative support.
- Familiarity with UK legal databases and research tools.
