Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Speech Therapy Assistant to join our growing team in Southport. This role offers an excellent opportunity to support our Speech and Language Therapists in delivering high-quality care to patients with communication and swallowing disorders. The successful candidate will assist with therapy sessions, prepare materials, maintain clinical records, and contribute to a positive therapeutic environment. This is a vital support role that helps ensure our patients receive the best possible care and progress effectively towards their communication goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist Speech and Language Therapists during individual and group therapy sessions.
  • Prepare and organise therapy materials, resources, and equipment.
  • Support patients in carrying out therapy exercises and activities as directed by a therapist.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, including session notes and progress tracking.
  • Liaise with patients, their families, and carers to provide information and support.
  • Monitor and report patient progress and any concerns to the supervising therapist.
  • Ensure the therapy environment is clean, safe, and welcoming.
  • Undertake administrative duties related to therapy caseload management.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Basic computer literacy (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or a related field.
  • Previous experience working in a healthcare or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of common communication disorders (e.g., dysphagia, aphasia, speech sound disorders).
  • Experience with clinical record-keeping systems.
