Job Description
Are you passionate about sound and eager to start your career in audio mastering and engineering? SonicWave Productions is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Audio Mastering & Engineering Intern to join our team in Aurora, IL. This entry-level internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a professional studio environment. You will work closely with experienced engineers, learn industry-standard techniques, and contribute to real-world projects. Full training will be provided, making this an ideal role for individuals with little to no prior professional experience but a strong foundational interest in audio.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior audio engineers with mastering and mixing sessions.
- Learn and apply fundamental audio processing techniques, including equalization, compression, and spatialization.
- Prepare session files and ensure all audio assets are organized and cataloged.
- Participate in quality control checks for mastered audio tracks.
- Help maintain studio equipment and ensure all workstations are operational.
- Research new audio technologies and software to contribute to continuous improvement.
- Support administrative tasks related to project management and studio operations.
- Shadow engineers during client sessions to observe professional workflow and client interaction.
Required Skills
- Basic understanding of audio principles and acoustics.
- Familiarity with Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro, or Ableton Live.
- Strong passion for music and sound production.
- Excellent active listening skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and workflows.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an audio engineering, music production, or related program.
- Basic knowledge of audio mastering concepts and best practices.
- Experience with recording and mixing personal projects.
- A portfolio or examples of personal audio work (not required but a plus).
