Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Grant Writer (Junior) to join our dedicated team at Chesterfield Borough Council. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for an individual passionate about community development and looking to start a career in grant funding. You will receive comprehensive training and mentorship, learning the intricacies of grant research, proposal writing, and donor stewardship. Your primary role will be to support our experienced team in securing vital funding for a wide range of community-focused projects and initiatives that directly benefit the people of Chesterfield. No prior grant writing experience is required; we are looking for a candidate with strong written communication skills, attention to detail, and a genuine desire to learn and contribute.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in researching potential grant opportunities from various foundations, government agencies, and corporate donors.
- Support the preparation and submission of grant applications, proposals, and reports under the guidance of senior staff.
- Help gather and organize supporting documentation required for grant submissions.
- Learn to articulate the Council's projects and needs compellingly to potential funders.
- Maintain accurate records of grant applications, deadlines, and outcomes.
- Collaborate with internal departments to understand project funding needs and gather necessary information.
- Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance grant writing and research skills.
- Assist with post-award reporting and compliance requirements.
- Contribute to the development of a robust grant funding strategy for the Council.
