Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and reliable Mess Hall Cleaner to join our team supporting a military base in Dundee. This is a secure civilian role offering stable employment and the opportunity to contribute to the operational readiness and welfare of service personnel. You will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene standards of the mess hall and associated areas, ensuring a pleasant and sanitary environment for all users. Full training on site-specific protocols and security procedures will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general cleaning duties in the mess hall, dining areas, kitchens (non-food prep areas), and restrooms.
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors.
- Clean and sanitize tables, chairs, countertops, and other surfaces.
- Empty waste bins and dispose of rubbish safely and hygienically.
- Clean and maintain washroom facilities, ensuring adequate supplies are present.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
- Follow site-specific security protocols and procedures.
- Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to supervisors promptly.
- Maintain a professional and respectful demeanor at all times.
Required Skills
- Ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Basic understanding of cleaning techniques and hygiene standards.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical stamina to perform cleaning tasks, including lifting and bending.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Must be eligible to obtain military base security clearance (requires background checks).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a cleaning or facilities role.
- Familiarity with COSHH regulations.
- A clean Disclosure Scotland certificate or equivalent.
