Job Description
Are you passionate about the environment and looking for a hands-on role where you can make a real impact? Severn Trent Water is seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our team as a Water Conservation Surveyor. This is an entry-level, field-based position perfect for someone with little to no prior experience in the water industry. Full training will be provided to equip you with all the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in this vital role. You will be instrumental in identifying and preventing water loss, promoting efficient water use, and engaging directly with our customers in the Stoke-on-Trent area.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field surveys to identify potential leaks and areas of water waste within our distribution network.
- Utilise specialised equipment for leak detection and data collection.
- Engage with customers to educate them on water-saving practices and offer advice on efficient water use.
- Record and report survey findings accurately using digital tools and systems.
- Assist in the deployment and maintenance of water conservation devices.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to flag and resolve water loss issues.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental guidelines during field operations.
Required Skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for customer interaction.
- A keen interest in environmental conservation and sustainability.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in an outdoor, field-based environment.
- Basic computer literacy for data entry and reporting.
- A willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.
- Physical fitness suitable for walking and carrying equipment in various weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- A valid UK driving licence is highly desirable for travelling between sites.
- Previous experience in a customer-facing role (e.g., retail, hospitality) is a plus but not essential.
- Basic geographical knowledge of the Stoke-on-Trent area.
- An understanding of basic plumbing or water systems (training provided).
