Job Description
As a Trainee Gas/Electricity Inspector, you will embark on a comprehensive training program designed to equip you with the essential skills and knowledge required to ensure the safety and compliance of gas and electricity networks. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals eager to start a career in the vital public utilities sector, with no prior experience necessary. You will learn to conduct thorough inspections, identify potential hazards, and contribute to the safe operation of critical infrastructure under the guidance of experienced professionals. Full training, including certifications, will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively in all aspects of the comprehensive training program.
- Learn to conduct routine inspections of gas and electricity meters, lines, and associated equipment.
- Assist senior inspectors in identifying and documenting safety hazards or compliance issues.
- Develop a strong understanding of relevant industry regulations, standards, and company policies.
- Shadow experienced professionals to gain practical, on-the-job experience.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections and work performed.
- Adhere strictly to health and safety protocols at all times.
- Communicate effectively with team members and, occasionally, with customers regarding inspection findings.
Required Skills
- No prior experience required; full training provided.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to tasks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work independently after training.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Valid UK driving license (or ability to obtain one) may be required for field travel.
Preferred Qualifications
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English, Maths, and Science.
- A genuine interest in engineering, utilities, or public safety.
- Experience in a customer-facing role (not essential but beneficial).
