Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Land Surveyor or Geomatics Engineer to join our dynamic team in Calgary, Alberta. This role is open to candidates eligible for the Skilled Worker Route, demonstrating our commitment to attracting global talent. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in various land development, infrastructure, and resource projects, utilizing advanced geomatics technologies and traditional surveying methods. You will be responsible for conducting accurate surveys, processing data, and preparing detailed reports and plans, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform various types of land surveys including boundary, topographic, construction, and as-built surveys.
  • Operate and maintain a wide range of surveying equipment such as Total Stations, GPS/GNSS receivers, and LiDAR scanners.
  • Process survey data using specialized software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, StarNet, ArcGIS).
  • Prepare survey plans, legal descriptions, and other related documents in accordance with provincial regulations and company standards.
  • Conduct research of legal documents, survey records, and land titles to determine property boundaries and rights-of-way.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure project success and client satisfaction.
  • Maintain accurate field notes, data logs, and project documentation.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and best practices in all field and office operations.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Geomatics Engineering, Land Surveying, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in land surveying or geomatics engineering.
  • Proficiency in operating modern surveying equipment (total stations, GPS/GNSS, digital levels).
  • Strong knowledge of survey data processing software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation).
  • Familiarity with provincial and federal surveying regulations and legal principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various project sites.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Registration as a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) or Engineer (P.Eng) in Canada, or eligibility to register.
  • Experience with LiDAR technology and point cloud processing.
  • Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS).
  • Project management experience in surveying or geomatics.
  • Prior experience with large-scale infrastructure or energy projects.
