Job Description

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to start your career in public service? Calgary Transit is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic individuals to join our team as a Train Station Platform Attendant. This is an entry-level position where no prior experience in rail or transit is required. We will provide comprehensive, paid training to ensure you have all the skills and knowledge needed to excel. As a Platform Attendant, you will be the face of Calgary Transit, assisting passengers, ensuring platform safety, and maintaining a welcoming environment at our light rail transit (LRT) stations. This role is crucial for the smooth operation of our services and directly contributes to the safety and satisfaction of our riders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide friendly and helpful assistance to passengers, including directions, fare information, and accessibility support.
  • Monitor station platforms for passenger safety, identifying and mitigating potential hazards.
  • Report unusual activities, incidents, or equipment malfunctions to appropriate personnel immediately.
  • Respond to passenger inquiries and provide general information about transit services.
  • Assist passengers with disabilities, ensuring they have safe access to and from trains and platforms.
  • Operate platform gates or doors if required, following strict safety protocols.
  • Ensure cleanliness and orderliness of station platforms.
  • Liaise with train operators and control center staff as needed.
  • Participate actively in all required training and safety programs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic first aid and CPR certification (training will be provided if not held).
  • Familiarity with the Calgary area and its public transit system.
