Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Optometrist to join our established practice in Prince George, British Columbia. This is a fantastic opportunity for an internationally qualified optometrist looking to build a fulfilling career in Canada, with visa sponsorship available for the right candidate. You will be instrumental in providing primary eye care, diagnosing and treating ocular diseases, and prescribing corrective lenses to our diverse patient base. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive eye examinations, including refractions, visual field testing, and retinal screenings.
  • Diagnose, treat, and manage various ocular conditions and diseases.
  • Prescribe and fit eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other vision aids.
  • Provide pre- and post-operative care for cataract and other eye surgeries.
  • Educate patients on proper eye care, contact lens hygiene, and eyewear options.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated patient care.
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development activities.

Required Skills

  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Eligibility for licensure as an Optometrist in British Columbia, Canada.
  • Proficiency in conducting comprehensive eye exams and diagnosing ocular conditions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassionate and patient-focused approach.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a clinical or private practice setting (post-licensure).
  • Experience with advanced diagnostic equipment (e.g., OCT, topography).
  • Fluency in multiple languages (an asset, not mandatory).
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
