Job Description
Are you a passionate musician who lives and breathes guitars and keyboards? Do you love helping others discover their perfect instrument? Guitar Center is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Musical Instrument Sales Advisor to join our team in Stamford, CT. In this role, you will leverage your personal playing experience with guitars and keys to connect with customers, provide expert product demonstrations, offer personalized advice, and drive sales. This is a commission-based role, rewarding your sales performance directly. If you have a deep understanding of musical instruments, a talent for sales, and a desire to be part of a vibrant music community, we want to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with customers to understand their musical needs and preferences.
- Provide expert product knowledge and demonstrations, especially on guitars and keyboards.
- Effectively communicate features, benefits, and value of musical instruments and accessories.
- Achieve individual and store sales targets and goals.
- Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting sales floor.
- Assist with inventory management, merchandising, and product displays.
- Stay up-to-date on new products, technologies, and musical trends.
Required Skills
- Demonstrable ability to play guitar and/or keyboards proficiently
- Strong knowledge of musical instruments, especially guitars, amplifiers, effects pedals, and keyboards/synthesizers
- Proven ability to connect with customers and build rapport
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Goal-oriented with a passion for sales
- Basic computer proficiency
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ year of retail sales experience, preferably in musical instruments or electronics
- Experience with Point of Sale (POS) systems
- Knowledge of other musical instruments (drums, band/orchestra, pro audio, etc.)
- Formal music education or performance experience
